Boarded by the Puttalam lagoon on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other, Kalpitiya is a great destination with so much to explore. The entire landscape of the peninsula is dominated by coconut palms, glistering slalterns and giant windmills. You will start your Kalpitiya adventure by settling off to the deep seas to have a once in a lifetime experience. Keep your eyes peeled as whales emerge from the azure waters of the Indian Ocean and pods of dolphins perform deep sea ballet steps. You will visit the Dutch Kirk (church) and the Dutch Fort in Kalpitiya after your whale watching excursion. Alternatively, you can explore the Anawailundawa Bird Sanctuary, which is a little over an hour’s drive from Kalpitiya.
